Elisa becomes market leader in interactive communication services in the Nordic countries with the acquisition of Videra Oy.
In accordance with its strategy, Elisa is strengthening its position as an ICT player by acquiring a majority holding in Videra, the leading video conference company in the Nordic countries. Video and interactive communication is the next big step in improving customers’ profitability by means of new technology. The combination of two strong players’ expertise creates opportunities for utilising interactive communication solutions in, for instance, customer service in a new way in both the private and the public sector.

The market of virtual work and video conferencing will grow significantly in the next few years when both the private and the public sector introduce new ways of working and providing customer service using video and interactive communication services. The services enable growth in competitiveness and productivity.

- For years now, Elisa has invested heavily in the supply of ICT services that improve profitabilityand introduced new video and interactive communication services to support its customers’ business. Videra’s is becoming part the Elisa Group through an arrangement where Elisa’s holding in Videra Oy will 64.7%. Videra will continue its operations as Elisa’s subsidiary.

Finlands Forsvar effektiviserer sin virksomhed med et nyt videokonferencesystem

Det finske Forsvar tog i december 2009 et nyt videokonferencesystem i brug, som indgår i den finske Stats projekt med et sikkerhedsnetværk. Forsvarets anskaffelse af videokonferencesystemet er den største i Finland i det forgangne år og omfatter i alt 87 videokonferencesystemer.

Videokonferencesystemet, der blev taget i brug i sin helhed i december 2009, forbedrer udnyttelsen af arbejdstiden i det finske Forsvars informationshåndtering og mindsker behovet for arbejdsrejser i et land, der er 7 gange større end Danmark. Videra Oy er leverandør af det nye videokonferencesystem til Forsvaret.

– Der er tale om den største enkeltordre og implementering af fjernkonferencesystemer i Finland i det forgangne år. Nyttegraden af fjernmøder i den offentlige sektor er betydeligt større, end det er alment kendt. Vi er især glade for, at der er vist os en stor tillid fra nogle særdeles fordringsfulde kunder inden for statsadministrationen, fortæller Videras salgsdirektør Pekka Haataja.

I det igangværende projekt med statens sikkerhedsnetværk er videokonferencetjenesterne fastlagt som en af de meste centrale fælles tjeneste. I Forsvarets nye videokonferencesystem har et af projektets fælles udgangspunkter da også været forpligtigelserne til et myndighedssamarbejde og specielt en kompatibilitet med videokonferencesystemet og -tjenesterne hos det finske Indenrigsministeriums Administrative IT-central (HALTIK).

Det fjernstyrede terminaludstyr og systemerne udnytter Forsvarets eget it-netværk. En centralisering letter administrationen og anvendelse af systemet. Én af Forsvarets it-administrations opgaver er at effektivisere organisationens virksomhed og bibringe med omkostningsbesparelser.

Videra har inden for de seneste år leveret mere end 1.100 videokonferencesystemer til den finske statsadministrations forskellige organer. Her i blandt Indenrigsministeriet, Arbejds- og Erhvervsministeriet, Land- og Skovbrugsministeriet, Undervisningsministeriet, Justitsministeriet, Trafik- og Kommunikationsministeriet samt Finansministeriet i Finland, som alle benytter sig flittigt af faciliteterne ved fjernmøder. Langt over halvdelen af de løsninger, som er leveret til Statsadministrationen, er tjenesteydelser fra Videras Virtual Office, og det interne netmiljøs videokonferencesystemer er koncentreret i sikkerhedsmyndighedernes regi.
